Superintendent’s Weekly Update June 11th, 2020
Dear Sunshine Coast families,
The first week and a half of our move to “Stage 3” for returning to school has gone well. On average, about 29% of our students have come to school at least once in June. The students who have returned to school have been engaged in a wide range of learning activities and have quickly become accustomed to the new health and safety protocols that are in place. Please see this video example of how we are adapting to meet the requirements for safety protocols in our schools. Remote learning continues as well with teachers and educational assistants working with students and families in this new context.
Should parents wish to have their children return to school, they are more than welcome to do so. Simply let your child’s teacher or principal know of your intention and once proper arrangements can be made, your child will be warmly welcomed back to school within a week of your request.
Continuation of Learning:
- At the end of June, elementary and secondary report cards will be given directly to students who are attending school during Stage 3. Students who are learning from home will have the report cards mailed home; or the school may invite parents to pick them up at the school. Please remember that report cards may look less comprehensive this year due to teachers not being able to provide learning opportunities and assessments in all program areas since the end of March.
- Teachers have less time to support students learning from home as they also teach at school. However, they will continue the very successful approaches that they have created in the last two months.
- This page has digital learning and support links that we have reviewed and are appropriate for our students. This will be regularly updated.

- If you have questions or comments about your child’s learning, please contact your child’s teacher. If the matter is more school related, please connect with your child’s principal.
