The School District Vision Teacher is a dedicated professional who provides direct support for students diagnosed with a vision impairment in the school district. They work closely with students, their families, and other education professionals to create individualized learning plans that address the unique needs of each student. Vision Teachers offer a range of services including braille instruction and support, orientation and mobility training, assistive technology training and support, adaptations to the curriculum and learning environment, and social and emotional support. They also provide consultation and support for classroom and learning services teachers and assist with accessing services through provincial programs. Additionally, the Vision Teacher facilitates the loan of specialized equipment and learning resources.
