Educators in the Sunshine Coast School District partner with families and people of the shíshálh Nation, the Skwxwύ7mesh Nation, and other First Nations, Métis and Inuit ancestry to create culturally respectful learning opportunities for students.  The result is a number of strong Language and Culture, Language Development, and Education Support Programs.

To Nurture the Learning Spirit, We Work in Four Directions:

Students
We develop relationships and support students with First Nations, Métis and Inuit ancestry in order to create social-emotional connections, personalize learning, and enhance opportunities for academic success.

We provide language and cultural experiences for Indigenous learners and offer cultural experiences for all learners.

Respect Honour Voice
We hear and respond to the voices of the Indigenous Peoples in our community. The voice of students,
parents, and the communities guide how best to support students with First Nations, Métis and Inuit
ancestry in school.

We respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action.

Educators
We collaborate with Indigenous Peoples and with each other on enhancing learning for Indigenous and all students.

We collaborate with Indigenous Peoples and with each other on inclusion of culture and implementation of curriculum.

The Learning Path
We support students and families through the transitions and stages of learning and accessing options associated with Early Learning, the School Years, Post-Secondary and Training.
