We stand alongside the shíshálh Nation in support as they share the results of the shíshálh Archaeological Research Project including the results of the Ground Penetrating Radar Investigation. The need for this work and the results are painful reminders of the tragic legacy of residential schools and the devastating impact on Indigenous peoples and their cultures.
The school district has lowered its flags to half-mast in honour of the Children who did not come home, in honour of the Survivors, and in honour of their Families and Communities. Our thoughts and condolences are with the shíshálh Nation, the more than fifty other Nations whose children attended the residential school in Sechelt, and all who are impacted.
