On April 15, the 32nd Annual Provincial Skills Canada Competition took place at the Tradex in Abbotsford. Thirty-seven Sunshine Coast students from three of the district’s high schools attended as spectators, while four Sunshine Coast School District students competed in a variety of categories. Madox Bell, a Gr. 11 student from Elphinstone Secondary who took the Train in Trades Automotive Service Technician program in the first semester, was one of the competitors. After winning a silver medal in the regional competition on April 2, Madox earned a spot in the provincial competition.
After a long day of competing, Madox’s hard work paid off and he won a Gold medal against competitors from across the province! He will now be representing BC at the National Skills Competition in Toronto on May 28 and 29. The district is proud to support Madox with $1000 toward his entry fee and travel expenses for his trip. Excellent job Madox and we look forward to your next competition!
Madox Bell is an amazing student who truly makes the world a better place. Madox is an individual that takes learned new concepts and extends his knowledge by practising until he has it mastered. I had a feeling about Madox and the Skills Canada competition. I am so proud of Madox, way to go buddy!!! – Brenda Masich – Automotive Service Technician/SD46 teacher
