At that meeting, Pammila Ruth was re-elected as Chair and Stacia Leech was acclaimed to the role of Vice-Chair.
Samantha Haines was elected as the board’s BCSTA Provincial Council representative and Maria Hampvent acclaimed as the board’s BCPSEA representative.
After the election took place, Chair Ruth thanked trustees for their support and said, “Thank you to our board for their confidence in me to be their chair for another year. I have grown and learned so much in this last year, all thanks to my team! I will continue to strive to better myself to further serve the board and the district.”
Upon adjournment, Vice-Chair Leech stated “I am honoured to be vice chair of SD46 and to be part of a team of community members who are passionate about education. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey with my fellow trustees.”
Seven elected trustees govern the school district as a board. The superintendent ensures that the direction of the board is carried out to provide excellence in learning for every student on the Sunshine Coast.
The board of education is comprised of Pammila Ruth, Chair, and Stacia Leech, Vice-Chair and Trustees Amanda Amaral, Samantha Haines, Maria Hampvent, Sue Girard, Tonya Ste. Marie, and also includes Student Trustee Jessica Carroll.
