- District Based Teams
Inclusion Support Services encompasses services that support designated and vulnerable students within the classroom and their neighbourhood schools.
District Based Teams Include:
- Therapy services with our own Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist and Rehabilitation Assistant, as well as two Speech/Language Pathologists, who all deliver services at the school and classroom level to support educational programming and increased independence across settings. This service may be in the form of assessment, consultation, and/or training of school-based staff to deliver therapeutic programs. This also includes psycho-educational assessments and educational supports conducted by a District School Psychologist. Referral through District Based Referral form.
- District Counselling Services Using a response to the intervention model of support, district counsellors offer most of their services through classroom-based, preventative lessons in order to respond to behaviour challenges, strengthen the social-emotional learning of all students and building capacity of all staff.
- Sensory Disabilities Support Teachers A Vision Resource Teacher works with school staff to support education within the classroom as well as offering direct instruction to students with vision challenges from Kindergarten to Grade 12. The Hearing Resource Support Teacher also works from K-12 supporting students with a moderate to severe loss of hearing in one or both ears. Both the Hearing Resource Teacher and Speech Language Pathologist can do hearing screens at the school site. Referral through District Based Referral form.
- English Language Learner Support Teacher gives support, including assessment, programming and academic instruction from Kindergarten to Grade 12 level, to students whose first language is not English. Referral is through School Based Team.
- Inclusion Support Team, comprised of Inclusion Support Coordinators, Inclusion Support Teachers, Inclusive Education Assistants, Family Support Navigators and Child Care Workers. The role of the team is to advocate and support inclusive teaching and learning in schools using a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach. Referral is through SBT.
- Inclusion Technology Teachers support our Special Education Technology, BC Outreach Technology and special needs students, as well as works alongside teachers to try technology and Universal Design for Learning strategies to enhance learning for all students. The Inclusion Tech Teachers also support technology for provincial assessments and software training for staff. Referral through District Based Referral form.
