School District 46 Announces School Trustee By-Election Results
SUNSHINE COAST, BRITISH COLUMBIA – The district is delighted to announce Tracey Lynn McClelland as the newly elected school trustee, following the by-election held on December 9, 2023. McClelland received the highest number of valid votes for the office of school trustee, Trustee Electoral Area 1 (Upper).
The official induction of Tracey McClelland into her role is scheduled for January 10th at her first regular board meeting, where she will take her Oath of Office, barring any application for judicial recount.
SD46’s governance is under the purview of seven elected trustees. These trustees, in collaboration with the superintendent, strive to ensure the highest standards of learning for every student in Sunshine Coast Schools.
The current Board of Education includes Amanda Amaral (Chair), Stacia Leech (Vice-Chair), and Trustees Maria Hampvent, Sue Girard, Pammila Ruth, Ann Skelcher, along with Student Trustee Cael Read.
McClelland reflected on her new role, “I am grateful to the community for the support, and excited to step into the trustee role. I look forward to adding to the collaborative conversations happening at the board level.”
Chair Amanda Amaral expressed enthusiasm over McClelland’s addition to the Board, stating, “We are thrilled to have Tracey join us at the board table and look forward to welcoming her in January!”
