COVID-19: Friday, March 13th Update

March 13, 2020  9:30 am

Dear families,

The Government of British Columbia and Canada has announced that we are to avoid all non-essential travel outside of the country.

Further, any of us who travel outside of Canada, including to the United States, must self-isolate for 14 days upon our return. This means that the traveler may not attend school or work for that 14 day period.

Some families are asking if schools will reopen following spring break. Decisions regarding school attendance for students and staff as well as the opening and closing of schools due to health concerns are decisions that legally belong to the medical community. Currently, the Ministry of Health has not announced any plans to close schools in British Columbia due to the COVID-19 Pandemic. Should any such announcement occur, we will inform families immediately.

Please speak to your child’s principal if you have any questions about this or any other matter affecting your child’s education.

Sincerely,

Patrick Bocking

Superintendent of Schools
