a. The Kindergarten Survey of Learning takes place each September. Skills including literacy, numeracy, fine motor development, speech and language development are all assessed and then communicated with kindergarten teachers. Parents are notified by VCH of any dental, vision, or hearing concerns that are identified. (1b)

a. Two of our students welcomed their fellow students back to school with a fun radio message! (1a)

a. The Coastal Voices celebration on Thursday, June 6th highlighted the superb authors we have amongst our students. Students, teachers and parents were impressed and moved by the quality of writing. Many thanks to the Festival of the Written Arts for their support. (1b)

The District Student Leadership Team is coordinating the, SD46’s Got Talent
show at 6:30 p.m. on May 22nd at Chatelech Secondary School.

Fiddler on the Roof is incredibly successful! All shows are sold out including the extra show that has been arranged!

Early Years Fair 2019 is coming soon to the Sechelt Learning Centre! The Fair this year is based on the children’s book, The best part of me and takes place beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 9th

Kindergarten Registration begins February 19th. Parents are invited to register anytime, but we emphasize this time so that our principals know how many children are coming so that they can prepare their schools for our newest students’ arrival in September.

All of our grade 3 and 4 students enjoyed a professional presentation of The Nutcracker ballet. Special thanks to Kathleen Holmes for her partnership in coordinating this special experience.

Seven experienced educators assessed the grade 4 and 7 Foundation Skills Assessments for our district to enable us to plan effectively for continued student improvement in Literacy and Numeracy.
