Originals of faxed or emailed nomination documents must be received by the Chief Election Officer by 4:00 pm on September 16, 2022.

Interested persons can obtain information on the requirements and procedures for making nominations, including nomination forms at the following locations beginning August 2, 2022 and until the close of the nomination period:

  •  School District No. 46 Board Office – 494 South Fletcher Road, Gibsons, BC
  • District of Sechelt Municipal Hall – 2nd Floor, 5797 Cowrie Street, Sechelt, BC
  • Sechelt Indian Government District Office – 5545 Sunshine Coast Hwy, Sechelt, BC
  • Sunshine Coast Regional District Office – 1975 Field Road, Sechelt, BC
  • Town of Gibsons Municipal Hall – 474 South Fletcher Road, Gibsons, BC

QUALIFICATIONS FOR OFFICE

A person is qualified to be nominated, elected, and to hold office as a School Trustee if they meet the following criteria:

  • Canadian citizen;
  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day October 15, 2022;
  • resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day nomination papers are filed; and
  • not disqualified under the School Act or any other enactment from being nominated for, being elected to or holding office as a trustee, or be otherwise disqualified by law.

CAMPAIGN EXPENSE LIMITS

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2022 general local election, the following expense limits for candidates during the campaign period apply:

                        Trustee Electoral Area 1 (Upper)                    $5,398.92

                        Trustee Electoral Area 2 (Central)                  $6,240.24

                        Trustee Electoral Area 3 (Lower)                    $7,833.78

THIRD PARTY ADVERTISING LIMITS

In accordance with the Local Elections Campaign Financing Act, for the 2022 general local election, the following third-party advertising limits apply:

                        Trustee Electoral Area 1 (Upper)                    $809.84

                        Trustee Electoral Area 2 (Central)                  $809.84

                        Trustee Electoral Area 3 (Lower)                    $809.84
