Circle Of Care: Students

  1. MDI and YDI: We are moving into the administration of the MDI and YDI in schools. These instruments provide student voice and essential data for our district. We will be offering pre and post lesson sessions for teachers so that they can work with students to better understand how their voices have an important role to play. (1a)
  2. Family Literacy Week (January 24 to 28) is a wonderful strategy to celebrate the JOY of literacy. This year we will once again have amazing authors zooming into classrooms all week! Schools typically have a huge variety of fun literacy activities planned during this week. (1d)
  3. New enhanced safety protocols: In late December, the province announced enhanced measures and a delayed start to the return of school for K-12 students on Monday, January 10, 2022. As announced, schools remained open during the week of January 4th to staff and only children of Health Workers, SD46 staff and diverse learners. During this time, SD46 staff were able to update and implement enhanced health and safety guidelines as outlined in the Ministry’s addendum. (1g)

Circle of Care: Staff

  1. Preparations for Functional and Public Health Closures by all staff: As directed by the province, the district is planning for potential school closures due to COVID-19 impacts. In the event that a functional closure or directed public health closure is required for a school within our district for a period of 3 to 10 days, SD46 staff prepared materials, resources and plans during the week of January 4th. Our deepest respect and gratitude for all the personal and collective efforts to help ensure we are prepared as a community for the continuation of learning for all students in our district. (2a)
