NOTICE OF DISPOSITION (SALE) OF REAL PROPERTY Community Consultation

 

The Board of Education of School District No. 46 (Sunshine Coast) has identified two vacant properties that are not required for educational purposes and is therefore considering their sale. The proceeds of any sale will be used to address capital improvements as identified in the Board’s Long Range Facility Plan.

The next stage in the Disposition of Real Property process is to conduct public consultation. This public consultation process will allow the Board of Education to obtain the community’s feedback on the proposed disposal of lands. By disposal of land, the Board is considering selling the properties listed below.

Lot 1, Hough Road, Gibsons, BC and Block 6, Hough Road, Gibsons, BC

The two parcels, measuring approximately 2.65 acres and 1.57 acres, are located at the south end of Hough Road, just south of the Sunshine Coast Highway (Highway 101). Together, they form two adjacent properties within the Elphinstone area of the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD).

The surrounding lands to the north and east, within the Town of Gibsons, include a mix of commercial, industrial, park, and retail uses. Lands to the south and west, within the SCRD, are primarily rural residential and agricultural in nature.

The Board of Education acquired these properties in 1998. The parcels are vacant and are not required for educational purposes.
