Honouring Kerry Mahlman: A Legacy of Leadership and Heart
With deep respect and admiration, we honour Kerry, our beloved District Principal of Indigenous Learning, as she embarks on her well-earned retirement, concluding a remarkable 45-year journey in education (38 of those within our district!).
Kerry has been a guiding light in our district, weaving Indigenous perspectives, knowledge, and culture into the fabric of our schools. Her leadership has been rooted in authenticity, compassion, and a profound commitment to Truth and Reconciliation. A dedicated educator and cherished community member, Kerry’s wisdom and warmth have left an indelible mark on students, families, and colleagues across generations.
From nurturing inclusive learning environments to mentoring staff and building strong relationships with local Indigenous communities, Kerry’s legacy is one of connection, courage, and care. Her work has shaped not just programs and policies, but hearts and minds.
As Kerry steps into this next chapter, we celebrate her incredible contributions and thank her for paddling this journey with us. May her journey ahead be filled with peace, joy, and the same love she has so generously shared with others.
