Michael Harris Named New Assistant Manager of Facilities
SUNSHINE COAST, BRITISH COLUMBIA – The Sunshine Coast School District is pleased to announce that Michael Harris has been selected as the successful candidate for the position of Assistant Manager of Facilities, effective August 26, 2024. Michael, who has been a dedicated member of our Facilities Department for the past three years, brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new role.
Michael began his career with the district as a custodian before advancing to his current role as a utility person/maintenance worker. Prior to joining our district, he worked as a Specialized Machine Operator with a structural steel fabrication company in Vancouver, and as a Metal Fabricator in Perth, Australia, where he supervised welders and fabricators. Michael holds a trade certification as a certified Engineering Tradesperson in Metal Fabrication.
This promotion follows the successful appointment of James Walton, the current Assistant Manager of Facilities, to the position of Manager of Human Resources (Health, Wellness and Safety), effective at the end of this month.
Superintendent Kate Kerr stated, “We are confident that Michael’s expertise and dedication will make him a strong fit for this crucial role, and we look forward to his continued contributions to our district.”
