Sunshine Coast School District Welcomes New Manager of Human Resources
SUNSHINE COAST, BRITISH COLUMBIA – Sunshine Coast Schools (SD46) is excited to announce the appointment of James Walton as the new Human Resources Manager (Health, Wellness, & Safety).
The departure of the former Manager of Human Resources in March prompted an evaluation of the department’s structure, leading to the redesign of the position to focus more comprehensively on Health, Wellness, and Safety. The newly defined role will concentrate on key areas such as Occupational Health and Safety, Wellness Initiatives, Attendance Support, and Sick Leave and Leave Management, including managing workplace injuries and facilitating return-to-work processes.
Following a thorough recruitment process that included internal and external candidates, James was selected to step into this vital role effective September 1, 2024. James is well-known within the district, having been the Assistant Manager of Facilities and Transportation for the last two years and the Co-Chair of the District Occupational Health and Safety Committee. His previous roles include Manager of Transit and Fleet with the Sunshine Coast Regional District, Terminal Manager at BC Ferries, and Operations Manager with SNC Lavalin, where he was responsible for the Canada Line part of the SkyTrain system.
