PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY given to the electors of Trustee Electoral Area 2 (Central) and Trustee Electoral Area 3 (Lower) that an election by voting is necessary to elect six (6) School Trustees for a four-year term commencing November 2022.
TRUSTEE ELECTORAL AREA 2 (CENTRAL)
Comprised of District of Sechelt and Sechelt Indian Band Lands 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 28.

ADVANCE VOTING OPPORTUNITIES FOR SCRD AREAS D, E, F will be available at the Gibsons and Area Community Centre (Room 219), 700 Park Road, Gibsons, BC between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5th, 2022 and Wednesday, October 12th, 2022.
ELECTOR REGISTRATION
If you are not on the list of electors, you may register at the time of voting by completing the required application form available at the voting place. To register you must meet the following qualifications:
- 18 years of age or older on general voting day
- Canadian citizen
- resident of BC for at least 6 months immediately preceding the day of registration
- resident of OR registered owner of real property in the area for which the election is being held for at least 30 days immediately preceding the day of registration, and
- not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or otherwise disqualified by law.
To register, resident electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature). Picture identification is not necessary. The identification must prove both residency and identity. If an elector does not have documentation showing residency, two pieces of identification are still required (at least one with a signature) and the elector must make a solemn declaration as to the applicant’s place of residence.
To register, non-resident property electors must produce 2 pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property, and, if there is more than one owner of the property, written consent from the other property owners.
Documents acceptable to provide proof of ownership include: a copy of a valid State of Title Certificate, a current title search, a current Property Assessment Notice or a current Tax Notice for the property in relation to which you are registering.
(The only persons who are registered owners of the property, either as joint tenants or tenants in common, must be individuals who are not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust.)
Note: No corporation is entitled to be registered as an elector or have a representative registered as an elector and no corporation is entitled to vote.
MAIL BALLOT VOTING
All eligible electors may apply to vote by mail.
REQUESTING A MAIL BALLOT PACKAGE:
Before 4:30 pm on October 13, 2022 you must submit the following information to the appropriate office as listed below:
1) Full name,
2) Residential address,
3) Address of the property in relation to which you are voting (for non-resident property electors),
4) Method of delivery of your mail ballot package:
- pick up at the appropriate office as listed below, and, if you wish, name of person you authorize to pick up package for you, OR
- regular letter mail through Canada Post to residential address, OR
- regular letter mail through Canada Post to an alternate address that you provide when requesting the ballot package, and
5) If you are not on the list of electors, to ensure you receive the correct registration application form in your package, you must indicate whether you are going to be registering as a resident or non-resident property elector.

Mail ballot packages will be delivered commencing on or about September 30, 2022. To be counted, your mail ballot must be received by the appropriate Chief Election Officers no later than 8 pm on Saturday, October 15, 2022.
In most cases, voting locations for School Trustee will be the same as the voting location for your local government.
