Keeping Your Children Cool During Rising Heat and Summer Weather<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Dear Parents and Guardians,<\/p>

As the summer season approaches and temperatures continue to rise, it is important to ensure the well-being of our students while they are at school. We would like to share some tips and guidelines to help keep your child(ren) cool and comfortable during hot weather.<\/p>

  1. \ud83d\udca7 Hydration: Encourage your child to drink plenty of water throughout the day. Send them to school with a refillable water bottle, clearly labeled with their name. Remind them to drink water regularly, even if they don’t feel thirsty. We have water refill stations available on site at all schools to facilitate this.<\/li>
  2. \ud83d\udc55 Dress for the Weather: During hot weather, it is recommended that students wear loose, lightweight, and light-colored clothing. This helps to promote better air circulation and reflect sunlight, reducing the risk of overheating.<\/li>
  3. \u2600\ufe0f Sun Protection: Apply sunscreen with a high SPF to your child’s exposed skin before they come to school. Encourage them to wear a wide-brimmed hat or a cap to protect their face and neck from direct sunlight. If possible, provide them with sunglasses to shield their eyes from harmful UV rays.<\/li>
  4. \u23f0 Time in Shade: Encourage your child to seek shaded areas during recess and breaks whenever possible. We have designated shady spots on all our school grounds to provide relief from the sun’s intensity.<\/li>
  5. \ud83e\udd4f Outdoor Activities: In the event of extremely high temperatures, schools may modify outdoor activities to minimize exposure to the heat. They will ensure that students have access to indoor spaces or covered areas for physical education and other outdoor classes.<\/li>
  6. \ud83c\udf4e Cool Lunches: Consider packing cool and refreshing lunches for your child during the hot weather. Include chilled fruits, vegetables, yogurt, and sandwiches made with cold ingredients and make sure to add a cold pack! Please refrain from sending perishable foods that may spoil in the heat.<\/li>
  7. \ud83d\udce3 Communication: The district closely monitors weather conditions to ensure the safety and comfort of our students. In case of extreme heat or severe weather warnings, the district will communicate any necessary changes to school schedules through the established communication channels, such as the district website, direct emails, and automated phone calls.<\/li><\/ol>
