Circle Of care: Students<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

  1. The Ministry of Education has demonstrated their support for early learning through the Early Learning Framework<\/strong> and linking the possibility of before and after school care to school districts in the future. As a part of this initiative, the students will be provided with a Provincial Education Number that will follow them throughout their educational pathway. (1b)<\/li>
  2. Grade 7 Substance Use Panels<\/strong> is a collaborative effort of SD46, Vancouver Coastal Health, Sechelt Nation, Sunshine Coast Community Services and Child and Youth Mental Health that began with Gibsons Elementary and Kinnikinnick Elementary. Our remaining schools will be scheduled from now until early May. (1f)<\/li>
  3. Pink Shirt Day:<\/strong> February was kindness month at SD46 and February 26th<\/sup> was international Pink Shirt Day. Events, discussions and learning took place across the district on bullying awareness and practicing kindness. (1f)<\/li>
  4. ArtStarts Elementary performance from TapCo<\/strong>: TapCo braved the blistery days of early February to attend each elementary school with a lively youth tap dancing performance. The district works with ArtStarts to provide two elementary shows and one secondary show each year in our district. (1K)<\/li>
  5. SD46 Train in Trades Programs Family Information Sessions <\/strong>will be taking place on March 10th<\/sup> at Chatelech Secondary Library and March 11th<\/sup> at Elphinstone Secondary Library at 6 pm. (1l)<\/li>
  6. Find Your Fit presentation at Elphinstone Secondary<\/strong>: WorkBC’s hands-on careers in demand exploration was an informative and well received event for students in grades 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. (1l)<\/li><\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

    1. The second round of Mental Health First Aid<\/strong> sessions were offered to staff on February 28th<\/sup>. (2a)<\/li>
    2. Numeracy Workshops <\/strong>for primary, intermediate and secondary have been engaging, informative and well received. (2b)<\/li>
    3. The 2nd of 3 sessions of Shelley Moore<\/strong> took place in February as an ongoing support for staff as we further develop inclusive classrooms. (2c)<\/li>
    4. 2020-2021 Kindergarten Registration kicked off on February 18th<\/sup><\/strong>. Families were offered the convenience of applying online for the first time and staff were prepared to guide families through the process and provide a warm welcome to their new school.       1. Vancouver Coastal Health <\/strong>has been guiding us in our communication with our schools\u2019 staff and families regarding the COVID19 virus. (<\/strong>3a)<\/li>
      2. Anti-Vaping COAST FM Radio Message<\/strong>: Elphinstone secondary students recorded an SD46 anti-vaping message for our community, available also on the SD46 YouTube channel. (3a)<\/li>
      3. Rotary Club volunteers<\/strong> and Lee-Ann Ennis<\/strong> (PODS<\/strong>) worked with students and staff from Pender Harbour, SCAS and Indigenous Programs to learn how to make herring curtains. (3c)<\/li>
      4.
