The following message is being emailed to families today regarding the immediate opening of school playing fields:

Dear Parents,

As you know, a load of top dressing spread on the playing fields had debris mixed into it requiring that we close the fields. Plastic, ceramic, bits of wood and glass were present in the soil mix. I would like to acknowledge the challenge that your children, the school staff and the community have experienced with the school playing fields being closed. It is not what any of us would have wanted. However, closing the fields was necessary to support student safety.

Our remarkable staff have been diligent in removing the material. We have also had the soil professionally sampled and tested. I am pleased to report that this careful assessment has revealed that the levels of debris and contaminants are within acceptable regulatory standards for student safety.

Our fields are also community spaces in the evenings and weekends. Therefore, a 100% guarantee of there being no debris has never been possible at any of our schools. Should any material be found at any time, the principal should be informed.

I am very pleased to let you know that your school field will be opened effective immediately.
