The Sunshine Coast School District and Elphinstone Secondary School is proud to acknowledge the success of our 2016-17 ACE-IT Professional Cook 1 program students. Under the direction of Elphinstone School Chef Barry Barone and Teacher Cathy Gordon, students completed theory and technical training for their Professional Cook 1 certification. Chef Debbie Shore, from Vancouver Island University, oversaw the theory and practical work granting university credit.  This program wouldn't exist without the generous support of our local businesses who offered Work Experience placements. We greatly appreciate all those who help provide this opportunity for students transitioning from secondary school into the working world with the opportunity for real-life experience.

We are currently accepting applications for all of our ACE-IT (now Student Train in Trades) programs, including Cook, Carpentry and Auto Service Technician. We would invite any interested parents to contact their school counsellors or Cheryl Wilson District Career Coordinator.  Employers able to offer Work Experience opportunities can also contact our School District Career Coordinator, Cheryl Wilson at 604-740-2738 or This email address is being protected from spambots.
