Pammila moved to the Sunshine Coast in 1991 with her husband, Richard. They moved here for the housing costs, but stayed here for the love of community and the perfect background to raise their family.

A “stay-at-home mom, “ Pammila immersed herself into the school system as soon as her eldest was ready for school. Along with her regular volunteering, she was a member of the GES Parent Advisory Council since 2004, serving many years as vice-chair.  She was also an active member of the School Planning Council – a small group that works with the principal on helping their school meet certain achievement goals and keeps them in-line with the school district’s own Achievement Contract.  She is proud of her role in helping attain these goals.

Having run a family daycare for seven years, as well as raising her own family, she also has a unique insight to Early Learning Programs, spanning over 15 years.  From Parent & Tot Drop-in at the ‘Old Library’ to Pre-School, Sparks!, and StrongStart, she has seen the need for and growth of Early Learning Programs in the community firsthand.

Her two sons attend Elphinstone Secondary, and her role as school volunteer has taken a step back.   When the opportunity arose to be a more integral part of the education system, she knew it was the right move.  Her plans over the next four years are to listen, to learn, and to help all students reach their highest potential!
